The walrus is a very interesting animal to learn about. The Pacific walrus males can weigh up to 3700 pounds and a minimum weight of 2000 pounds, or 1 ton. The Pacific females can weigh up to 1750 pounds. The Atlantic males can weigh up to 2080 and their minimum weight is 1650. The females are weight is around 1200 pounds. They have a life span of 40 years. The pacific walrus is found by the shore of Alaska or the Chukchi sea of Russia and the Atlantic walruses go back to back from Canada to Greenland. You can also see either one of them on an ice chap or on shore in groups of 100's. For food they just eat simple things such as clams,mussels,crabs and shrimp. they can tell where food is by felling the ground with their helpful whiskers. The walrus has three enemies:humans,killer whales and most importantly polar bears. The whales and Polar Bears eat them for a tasty diner, and humans kill them and sell their ivory and rare tusks. Female walruses start breeding at age 7. Male walruses also rea ch breeding at 7, but don't usually breed until age 15. Walruses have no other relative species. You would think seals are family to them, but seals are walruses favorite snack.

There is a problem with walruses going endangered. The whales are killing every walrus they see. Polar Bears are going and exstinked, and walruses should be happy because Polar Bears are their worst enemy. And humans are really bad because humans mostly kill walruses for their valuable tusks. Walruses are great animals and should not be killed all the time. Even inocent walruses are being killed. So now I say to all of the world, save the walruses!
There is no problem with walruses. People always say things like " The walruses are dieing!" or "We have to do something now or else!" Here's what I want to know. What does or else mean? Why should we stop retrieving ivory from walrus tusks? Why should the other animals starve while walruses are at complete peace? Another thing is that they can't stop whales and polar bears from eating them. Plus walrus meat is a good source of protien for eskimos and people who live in cold places. So now I say to the world let the circle of life for walruses continue!
